Who We Are
Hand Crafted QualityTM
Why owners and designers hire millwork companies DIRECT–
Many times, this very important piece of the project is overlooked, and it is given to the contractor to handle. By hiring the millwork contractor direct, the owner can control designs, scheduling and more importantly the budget.
When a general contractor is inserted in to handle the millwork part of the project– it creates a loss in communication between all parties; owner, designer, general and millworker. Thus, creating an owners’ “vision” being lost as well as an expectation of delivery, adding countless days to a project as well as added mark-ups – an average 15%!
The millwork process typically takes longer than the contractor can allow in their schedule. By working directly with us, the owner can start the process as early as conceptual drawings, allowing time to get the right specs, species and finishes they have envisioned for the project.
The process for all millwork projects (residential OR commercial) is as follows:
1. Budget building from Architectural drawings or designer
2. Deposit payments
3. Color sample approval process
4. First set of shop drawings for design intent
5. Final set of design drawings for approval process
ONLY THEN – can the millwork manufacturing begin, and the clock begins.
In all our experiences with owner–direct contracts, we have always come in on time and within budget. Our pricing therefore is less than having a client/owner go through a third party (general contractor).
A new venture takes a lot of time and money. Don’t gamble on the outcome of your project, let Horizon help you navigate through the process.
We are a design-build company, however, we also offer suggestions as to specific architects, designers and general contractors who specialize in the area in which you are building, should you be early enough on in your concepts.
We are excited to begin! Let’s start NOW!
